Day 8 of Learning to Blog

Okay so i have had my blog here for just over a week now. I think it is coming around. I have had some positive feed back from people, which makes me real happy. I keep checking our other blogs to see if I can get any ideas from them too.
Well today I added a new widget to my blog...if you look to the left here you will see my Currently Reading shelf which has been added thru www.shelfari.com. I saw it on another blog and really liked it and best of all it was so simple to add. All I had to do was click the link off the shelf and I believe it was only 4 steps. Pick the shlf you want to have viewed n the book that will be on that shelf, pick the kind of shelf you want, enter your blog URL then add widget...or something really easy like that...lol..
But anyway, if your checking this out, keep coming back to check my progress, any comments or suggestions are all ways welcome!!!

I think next will be making a personalized signature!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

I loved this book. I thought is was brilliant and completely captivating.
In a land of Seven Kingdoms, where there are those few that are born with extreme special skills, this is the story of one Lady Katsa, neice of the Middluns King Randa. Katsa is believed to be Gaced witht the talent to kill and has held that reputaion since the young age of eight.
Katsa thought her life would be nothing more than being the King's "thug" when punishment was to be handed out. That is until she met Prince Po. Prince Po changed everything in Katsa's life and as more and more questions come about, time reveals the sometimes overwhelming and shocking answers.

When I was reading this book I was swept away to another time and I loved it. I will say I love the character and the way the story was written. Katsa is amazing, but I will say Princess Bitterblue is my favourite in the book.

This book is recommended and I give a full 5 stars!!!!

Quotes:
(First line of the book):"In these dungeons the darkness was complete, but Katsa had a map i her mind."
"And then, with all her might, she focused her attention on the back of Po's head and screamed his name, inside her mind. He pulled on his reins so hard that his horse screeched and staggered and almost sat down. And he looked so startled and flabbergasted--and irritated--that she couldn't help it: She exploded with laughter."

"He ducked his head for a moment. He raised his eyes to her again."I'll give myself to you however you'll take me," ge said, so simply that Katsa found she wasn't embarrassed."

The Last Song - The Movie

So FINALLY watched The Last Song lastnight with my husband and best friend. I had been wanting to see it for so long and happy I didi watch it.
I really enjoyed the movie, although of course I loved the book much more.
I would like to start by commenting on the casting of the movie and I will start with the father, Steve, who was played by Greg Kinear. Kinear was the perfect actor for this role. Even before I watched the movie and I heard he played Steve, I instantly knew he was perfect for the role. Next would be Ronnie, played by Miley Cyrus, who i thought did a pretty good job by didn't really blow me away. I keep thinking there could have been someone slightly better for the role and I haven't quite figured out who I would pick for the role yet but whe I do I will let you know. And finally Will, played by Liam Hemsworth, I think did a pretty good job for my first time watching him. I don't really have anything outstanding to comment on him but I have nothing negative either. So all in all cast was pretty good for the main character's.

Now for the movie. I really did enjoy alot. It made me laugh out loud several times and made me cry, but not the hicupping, sobbing kind of cry. I thought the movie followed the book fairly well but of course there were changes. I was a little disappointed that the Reverend didn't play a role in the movie because I think he would have played an important supporting role for both Steve and Ronnie, but the movie made my good graces with out the role. I would recomend watching this movie for anyone who loves a good chick flick cause it has all the elements of making it a good movie...and it wasn't a long drawn out movie like some chick flicks can turn into.

My movie rating of this...I would give it a 3.5/5 stars.

The Last Song by Nicolas Sparks

I decided to post my reveiw for this book because I watched the movie last night and I thought it would be a good one since in is in my top favourite books.
This book is absolutely fantastic. I love everything about it. I haven't read all of Sparks books but this is by far the best yet out of the ones I have read and would be pretty tough to top it.
I really enjoy the story because it isn't just about the love story but about a father and daughter getting close again. The writing style was great and I love that each chapter alternated between Ronnie (everyother chapter being the #1 main character) Will, Steve and a few short ones as Markus. This way you got p[arts of the story from a different persons point and got to read into the thoughts of the other characters that normally you wouldn't know unless they were the main person of interest.

Ronnie and her younger brother Jonah are being taken from NYC to Wrightsville Beach to spend the summer with their father. Although Jonah is excited, Ronnie wants nothing to do with her father and hasn't spoke to him in 3 years. When they first arrive, she spends as much time away from her father as possible and meets with Blaze and spends time her, her suppose to be boyfriend and friends who just don't give the right vibe to Ronnie.
When things go wrong and Ronnie stops hanging out with Blaze she meets up with Will again (the beach volley ball guy that spilled her soda on her the first day there) and the love begins to form, spending as much time together as possible.
Ronnies relationship wither her father also begins to change when she realizes that he wants nothing more than a realtionship with her.As the summer is ending, Ronnie comes to find another reason why her father wanted her and Jonah to spend the summer with him.

I would recommend this book for sure with a 5/5 stars rating from moi!!!!

Day 3 Learing How to Blog

First I would just like to say thank you to Julie!!! I checked out that link you commented on my yesterday post and who would have thought adding a page would be so easy!!! I had figured out labelling but was originally trying to make a new page.
So, I checked out this link http://shabbyblogsblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-add-pages-to-your-blog.html that Julie posted for me and it was a world of help. Now I need to decide just what pages I would like to start and go from there next. My next step is giving myself a little more of a plan for how I want this blog to develope and start to publish on those ideas.
This morning I also played around a little more with the page design (really just experimented with colour changes). Just doing a little at a time witht he design til I get just the way I want!
