Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Dare I say Cassandra Clare has done it again!!!!! And I cannot wait for Clockwork Prince...its a whole year away!!!!
Anyhow, I love this book just as much as I love the MI series(can't wait for the second cycle to begin either).

My Synopsis: Tessa Gray leaves New York, bound for England (set in the time of Queen Victoria's reign) to meet with her brother, Nathaniel.  Upon arriving, she is Kidnapped by the evil Dark sister's and she learns she has a rare supernatural ability. While taking cover after the escape/rescue by William Herondale, shadowhunter, Tessa learns there is a whole new terrifying world full of supernatural creatures called Downworlders. Whle staying with the shadowhunter's, they are helping her to find her brother and she is helping them with her unusual powers.Tessa finds herself fascinated by both Jem, and beautiful, kind by mysterious boy and Will, whom doesn't let anyone get close with his volitile and hard emotional sheild.
Tessa finds herself in a tough place to decide to stick by n seek out her brother or to help her new shadowhunter friends, who are in the midst of uncovering plots to kind their kind.

My Review:
This book was great beginning to end. Tessa is a wonderful character. She in kind when she needs to be and strong when it is necessary. I believe she handled everything well for all the major changes that took place in such a short time. And Will, even though he seems to be ....well a jerk most of the time, it works for him for now. I know in the next books to come we will find out just why her is like that. I do believe he is hinding something but there is something greater in him to be discovered. Jem would be the perfect gentlemen and I love him greatly as a character. He is calm cool and collected despite the hardships of his young life.
The plot was paced well.  There was never too much revealed at one time and always enough there to leave you wanting more. I absolutely love the small huints of The Mortal Instruments books withing the book and I love that Magnus Bane played a small part as well.
This book to exceeded its well deserved 5/5 stars. Well done Cassandra!!!

Favourite quote's/passages:
""Dinner?" After hearing such a deal about Nephilim, and Downworlders, adn fearies adn vampires and demons, the prospect of dinner was almost shocking in its ordinariness."

"The moment she was back in her nightgown and had slipped under the covers, she opened The Shadow Hunter's Codex and began to read. You'll never understand us from reading a boo, Will had said, but that wasn't the point really.  He didn't know what books meant to her, that books were symbols of truth and meaning, that this one acknowledged that she exsisted and that there were others like her in the world."

"Will spread his armswide, on his knees, grinning like a demon, blood dripping from his mouth, he barely looked human himself. "Come and get me.""

"Tessa just stared at him. When he had come into her room at the Dark House, she had thought he was the most beautiful boy she'd everseen, but just now, looking ay him-she had never looked at a boy like that, not in this way that brought blood hot to her face, and tightened her chest. More than anything else she wanted to touvh him, to touch his wet hair, to see if his arms, corded with muscle, were as hard as they looked, or if his callused palms were rough. To put her cheek against his, and feel his eylashes brush her skin. Such long lashes...."

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collin

I loved this book. It was a great end to Hunger Games trilogy. I have rates this book 5/5 stars as I did the previous 2 books, Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I think what I loved most about this book, Mockingjay< is that is took me by surprise. The end was not what I would have predicted to happen and although it was sad, it was nice to have it end different than what would have been expected. And all I have to say is that this book has a way of touching all emotions jsut as the first two books did. After coming around from the escape and rescue from the last games, Katniss is completely lost. She was saved by the rebels of District 13 in a plan the was kept fromher all along, but what hurts most is Peeta is gone and she has no idea if he is dead or alive. When the Capitol airs a t.v segment with an interview with Peeta, Katniss agrees to be the rebels Mockingjay, so she can attempt to save Peeta. As President Snow makes it clear that no one is safe and is angry, Katnis with District 13 behind her, leads the rebellion in fighting back as the Mockingjay. Katniss will not be satisfied in the end til Peeta is safe and well and she has killed Snow. Quotes: "Fire is catching! And if we burn, you burn with us!"

"Well, don't expect us to be too impressed. We just saw Finnick Odair in his underwear."

"My name is Katniss Everdeen. I am seventeen years old. My home is District 12. I was in the Hunger games. I escaped. The Capitol hates me."

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

So this is a book review I did a long time ago now it seems, but I was due for another book review and I haven't read something I felt worth posting for the last few books, So I have decided to post this review in light of the recent release of the third book in the series, Mockingjay, which I still have yet to read but am very excited for it!!!

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this book. I was tottalyy captivated from beginning to end. When I took it out of the library I hadn't even read the description I had only heard it was really good. Then I started reading it and was totally blown away. And the ending only left me wanting more. Katniss is one of my Favourite book character's now. The book brings true meaning to only the strongest survive and Katniss and Peeta are Survivors. I can't wait to read Catching fire to see how the relationship between the two unfold and when Gale is back in the picture.

Synopsis: Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

I would definately recommend this book!!!

Quotes: "We're going to be thrown into an arena to fight to the death. Exactly how am I supposed to work in a thank-you in there? Somehow it just won't seem sincere if I'm trying to slit his throat." (Katniss)

"You’ve got about as much charm as a dead slug." (Haymitch)

"I lie with my head in Peeta's lap, making a crown of flowers while he fiddles with my hair, claiming his practising his knots. after a while, his hands go still, "what?" i ask.
"I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now, and live in it forever" he says."

There are so many great lines in this book but these are just a few.

My Cast Pick for Mortal Instruments Series

Okay so I actually got this idea for blog entries by watching youtube book trailes and seeing their different videos that showed the people that they would think would best represent to characters in the books. So I am starting with one of my favourite book series, The Mortal Instuments Series. So here it is and hope you enjoy.

Jace Wayland- Alex Pettyfer
He seems to be a popular choice for many and I agree that he is what I would picture Jace to look like.

Clarissa "Clary" Fray- Stacey Farber OR Alexz Johnson. Alex seems to be most popular from what I have seen and I agree as well bur I could also picture the part played by Stcay as well.

Simon Lewis- Kristopher Turner When I was browsing and checking out different opinions, I felt he best matched my own picture in my mind, just need to add the glasses.

Alec Lightwood- Gaspard Ulliel He just seem to fit.

Isabelle Lightwood- Kate voegele I like her. She is very pretty and I think her look suites the personailty of Isabelle.

Magnus Bane- Oliver James As soon as I saw him I know he was my pick for magnus. Just need to add a few costume effects and I think he would be perfect. I was trying to find smaller pics but I couldn't find a smaller one that I liked.

i am running a little short on time, so here is the other "cast" I have picked and when I am back next I will update them with pictures too.

Jocelyn Fray- Lena Headley
Luke GarrowayGerard Butler OR Oliver Hudson
Hodge Starkweather- Alan Rickman
Valentine MorgensternJason Isaacs

First paragraph of book:

Cracked Up to BeCracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I basically had this book read in one day. I really liked it. The writing was good and the story good. Sumers did a great job of revealing little by little though the bok of what happened that made Parker feel thike she had to be alone and didn't deserve anything better. Reading it, I felt I had to keep going because I wanted to know what happened and I wasn't willing to wait to find out.

Plot summary: Parker Fadley had it all. Cheerleading captain, most popular guy as her boyfriend and straight A's. She was considered perfect by many and it showed in her perfectionist attitude. Suddenly she has given it all up after the she gave all of it up.Brok up with her boyfrind, quit the squad and stopped doing homework and would come to school drunk. Now she is under strict surveillance by the school and her parents. Everyone wants to know what was so bad that happened that made Parker hate everything so much.

Start of first page: "Imagine four year.
Four years, two suicieds, one death, one rape, two pregnancies(one abortion), three overdoses, countless drunken antics, pantsings, spilled food, theft, broken limbs, turf wars- evreyday, a turf war- six months til graduation and no onegets a medal when they get out, But everything you do here counts.
High school."

Features Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin
Released(in Canada) December 25,2009

Plot Summary: Jane and Alex who have been divorced for 10 years, are brought back to together at long time mutual friends anniversary. There begins an affai for the two ex's as Jake has been re-married but is finding that it is no longer working and he desperately wants to be in James life again. However Jane is becoming very interested in Adam, the architect who is re-designing her kitchen. Jane needs to decide what she really wants, a new start with her ex Jake or start something new with Adam.

This movie is probly the best romantic comedy I have watched in a long time. It had many great laugh out loud moments and it was very real. This book is about a women named Leah Thorton, who is confronted by her best friend Molly about her alcoholism. With the encouragement from Molly, Leah make the decision to go to rehab and begin the road to sobriety. It is not an easy task to up and leave everything and was hard to explain the need to her husband Carl, who provided very little support in the matter.
During the 30 days in rehab Leah began to bond with others that shared similar addiction, began to open up and start to find the reasons why she did what she did and found God in her life again. She found that the drinking didn't really take away the feeling she had about losing her 6 week old daughter Alyssa and that drinking was the only way she cauld give Carl what he wanted all the time.Sex.
Just before Leah is ready to leave the centre, she finds that she is pregnant and gives her one more reason to stay sober. Leah begins to take control of her life again slowly but surely. She learns not to give in to Carl, she makes her own decisions without the influence of others and she sticks to the program. And there are also a few other little surprises along the way in this womens road to sobriety, self realization and her way to faith.

I really loved this book. The story was amazing and touching and well written and I would definately recommend this book. rated it 5/5 stars!!!

My favourite quote I would have to say is the quote that gave the book it's name: " He's grabbed my arm. His thumb and forefinger met at my bone. "Stop. Get away from here before you hurt yourself. You're barefooted. You can't walk on broken glass."
I yanked myself away and almost fell from the deliberateness. "Watch me" "

Learning How To Blog Continues!!!!

Okay, so I know its been about a week since I was onlast, but I have been busy, busy. Any how, I have learned how to get my personalized signature....yay..*appluase*. It actually took me two attempts to do it and it is a very simplistic signature and I may change it in the future(once I figure out how to make one a little more complex) but this onw ill do for now.
In figureing this out I started by checking out the tutorials on the Shabby Blogs blog page where there is a step by step instruction on it. So I found a website to create my personalized signature @ www.mylivesignature.com . I preoceeded without registering. The first page you type your name, next you pick font then size. After that you pick backgroung colour n text colour and voila....you have a personal signature.
To have it added to the end of each post, on the page after your signature is made, I clicked the link under it to download signatue and that produed the url for my signature. I coppied that then went to my blog page n clicked on design then into the setting tab. The last item in setting is for setting up a personal signature. I got the html code for it from Shabby Blogs and entered my url in place in plaxe of where it said signature url.
Here is the link to the tutoial page for Shabby blogs so you can try it yourself:

The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

I liked reading The Body Finder. It's not often you find a YA book that has the story of serial killer. I liked the story, with the two story lines. The obvious changes in her relationship with her best friend and her new fellings for him and her secret ability and using it to put away the killer of the recent murders of young teenage girls. I also liked that the way it was written that every few chapters there would be a short chapter that was the minds eye of the killer two so you get a glimpse to both sides of that story!!

In this book Violet Ambrose is doing all she can to sort out her new found feeling for her best friend Jay, who seems to make her stomache do summer saults every time she sees him now. Doing her best to keep her feelings in check with herself, a whole lot brgins to happen when the is a string of disappearances in her town that lead to her finding the dead bodies of these young girls and as each girl goes missing is gets closer to home as it begins to happen the girls she goes to school with.
Violet is set to find the killer since along with sensing the dead bodies she can snse the imprint lft on the killer that is left behand on him after each murder.
Just when everything seemd to be good there is a final twist that can be shocking to find out.

I gave this book a 4/5 start rating. i liked it and would recommend it!!

Quotes:
First line of the book: "Violet Ambrose wandered away from the safety of her father as she listened to the harmony of ounds weaving delicately around her."

"She was starting to feel like he was toxic to her."

"The sound she'd been following, the sound she'd been drawn to, the very one that had pulled her away from her own search team as she wandered closer and closer to it...it was nevr a cell phone.
I was the sound of bells.
The special sound of Brooke's bells."

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

I loved this book. I thought is was brilliant and completely captivating.
In a land of Seven Kingdoms, where there are those few that are born with extreme special skills, this is the story of one Lady Katsa, neice of the Middluns King Randa. Katsa is believed to be Gaced witht the talent to kill and has held that reputaion since the young age of eight.
Katsa thought her life would be nothing more than being the King's "thug" when punishment was to be handed out. That is until she met Prince Po. Prince Po changed everything in Katsa's life and as more and more questions come about, time reveals the sometimes overwhelming and shocking answers.

When I was reading this book I was swept away to another time and I loved it. I will say I love the character and the way the story was written. Katsa is amazing, but I will say Princess Bitterblue is my favourite in the book.

This book is recommended and I give a full 5 stars!!!!

Quotes:
(First line of the book):"In these dungeons the darkness was complete, but Katsa had a map i her mind."
"And then, with all her might, she focused her attention on the back of Po's head and screamed his name, inside her mind. He pulled on his reins so hard that his horse screeched and staggered and almost sat down. And he looked so startled and flabbergasted--and irritated--that she couldn't help it: She exploded with laughter."

"He ducked his head for a moment. He raised his eyes to her again."I'll give myself to you however you'll take me," ge said, so simply that Katsa found she wasn't embarrassed."

The Last Song - The Movie

So FINALLY watched The Last Song lastnight with my husband and best friend. I had been wanting to see it for so long and happy I didi watch it.
I really enjoyed the movie, although of course I loved the book much more.
I would like to start by commenting on the casting of the movie and I will start with the father, Steve, who was played by Greg Kinear. Kinear was the perfect actor for this role. Even before I watched the movie and I heard he played Steve, I instantly knew he was perfect for the role. Next would be Ronnie, played by Miley Cyrus, who i thought did a pretty good job by didn't really blow me away. I keep thinking there could have been someone slightly better for the role and I haven't quite figured out who I would pick for the role yet but whe I do I will let you know. And finally Will, played by Liam Hemsworth, I think did a pretty good job for my first time watching him. I don't really have anything outstanding to comment on him but I have nothing negative either. So all in all cast was pretty good for the main character's.

Now for the movie. I really did enjoy alot. It made me laugh out loud several times and made me cry, but not the hicupping, sobbing kind of cry. I thought the movie followed the book fairly well but of course there were changes. I was a little disappointed that the Reverend didn't play a role in the movie because I think he would have played an important supporting role for both Steve and Ronnie, but the movie made my good graces with out the role. I would recomend watching this movie for anyone who loves a good chick flick cause it has all the elements of making it a good movie...and it wasn't a long drawn out movie like some chick flicks can turn into.

My movie rating of this...I would give it a 3.5/5 stars.

The Last Song by Nicolas Sparks

I decided to post my reveiw for this book because I watched the movie last night and I thought it would be a good one since in is in my top favourite books.
This book is absolutely fantastic. I love everything about it. I haven't read all of Sparks books but this is by far the best yet out of the ones I have read and would be pretty tough to top it.
I really enjoy the story because it isn't just about the love story but about a father and daughter getting close again. The writing style was great and I love that each chapter alternated between Ronnie (everyother chapter being the #1 main character) Will, Steve and a few short ones as Markus. This way you got p[arts of the story from a different persons point and got to read into the thoughts of the other characters that normally you wouldn't know unless they were the main person of interest.

Ronnie and her younger brother Jonah are being taken from NYC to Wrightsville Beach to spend the summer with their father. Although Jonah is excited, Ronnie wants nothing to do with her father and hasn't spoke to him in 3 years. When they first arrive, she spends as much time away from her father as possible and meets with Blaze and spends time her, her suppose to be boyfriend and friends who just don't give the right vibe to Ronnie.
When things go wrong and Ronnie stops hanging out with Blaze she meets up with Will again (the beach volley ball guy that spilled her soda on her the first day there) and the love begins to form, spending as much time together as possible.
Ronnies relationship wither her father also begins to change when she realizes that he wants nothing more than a realtionship with her.As the summer is ending, Ronnie comes to find another reason why her father wanted her and Jonah to spend the summer with him.

I would recommend this book for sure with a 5/5 stars rating from moi!!!!

Day 3 Learing How to Blog

First I would just like to say thank you to Julie!!! I checked out that link you commented on my yesterday post and who would have thought adding a page would be so easy!!! I had figured out labelling but was originally trying to make a new page.
So, I checked out this link http://shabbyblogsblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-add-pages-to-your-blog.html that Julie posted for me and it was a world of help. Now I need to decide just what pages I would like to start and go from there next. My next step is giving myself a little more of a plan for how I want this blog to develope and start to publish on those ideas.
This morning I also played around a little more with the page design (really just experimented with colour changes). Just doing a little at a time witht he design til I get just the way I want!

Day 2 of Learning How to Blog

So, I was up early today and started to play with my blog here. Since I am still experimenting, I started with a small Book review of one of my Favourite books.
So easy enough to put up a new post, but it I wanted to set it as it in it's own page that will be listed in a category or topic of just book review's. I wasn't sure how to do that but yay for me I think I figured it out by creating a label for it so it has a folder now.
So, needless to say I learned something new about blogging today even though it took me at least an hour to figure out. So here is the official start to my walk along to road of blogging!!!

Thirteen Reason's Why by Jay Asher

So, I am still trying to figure things out so I am using an older book review of mine of one of my favourite books to play with. I believe this was also the first book review I ever wrote so it's short, but hope you enjoy!!!!

I could not stop reading this book. I felt almost like I was listening to the tapes and getting to the end of them I just wanted to cry for Hannah because she had all the signs and no one could see it to do anything to help. I think this is a book that everyone should read at some time especially kids just coming into high school so they know what kind of effects the small things have on other peoples lives. I even felt like yelling at some of the character's for what they did because they had no right or they were just plain blind. But all in all this is a top 10 book for me possibly even in the top 5.

Rated 5 Stars!!!

Book Description
Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker—his classmate and crush—who committed suicide two weeks earlier.

On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out how he made the list.

Through Hannah and Clay’s dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers.
